Em Medicina, finas membranas de látex natural moldadas a partir do contato com superfícies industriais de borracha e plástico criam uma nova paisagem nos colocando diante da memória espectral da matéria vegetal. As peles operam numa sorte de restituição da seiva ao mundo vivo de onde fora retirada. A obra busca ser antídoto, contrafeitiço feito de linguagem que deseja subverter a lógica simbólica do caminho perverso da mercadoria. A instalação faz parte do conjunto da Obra Teologia Natural, que reúne debates sobre Natureza, extinção, memória coletiva em torno de um dos eventos que marcaram a história da ocupação da Amazônia e o desenvolvimento da indústria mundial: a extração do látex para a produção de borracha a partir da seiva da Hevea brasiliensis, a seringueira.
In Medicine, thin membranes of natural latex molded from contact with industrial surfaces of rubber and plastic create a new landscape placing us before the spectral memory of plant matter. The skins operate in a sort of restitution of the sap to the living world from which it was taken. The work seeks to be an antidote, a counter-spell made of language that wishes to subvert the symbolic logic of the perverse path of merchandise. The installation is part of the Teologia Natural body of work, which brings together debates on Nature, extinction, and collective memory around one of the events that marked the history of the occupation of the Amazon and the development of world industry: the extraction of latex for the production of rubber from the sap of the Hevea brasiliensis, the rubber tree.
