Oriente-se-Ocidente
Orientar-se no espaço de duas paisagens. A paisagem é meu ponto de vista. Singular. Minha relação concreta com o mundo que vejo, onde vejo. O vídeo Oriente-se-Ocidente apresenta duas paisagens à beira-mar: uma na cidade de Rabat, no Marrocos, onde vivo e a outra em Fortaleza, no Brasil, minha cidade natal. Duas cidades litorâneas banhadas pelo mesmo oceano, o Atlântico. Durante alguns minutos o espectador assiste a uma junção de mundos longínquos. A paisagem visível e a paisagem imaginada se juntam. Intimidade e estranheza, proximidade e distância. O horizonte convoca ao desenraizamento. Ele contém uma fábula, um mistério. Para além desse limite, dessa borda, o mundo continua?
Orienting myself in the space of two landscapes. The landscape is my point of view. Singular. My concrete relation with the world I see, where I see. The video Oriente-se-Ocidente presents two seaside landscapes: one in the city of Rabat, Morocco, where I live, and the other in Fortaleza, Brazil, my hometown. Two coastal cities bathed by the same ocean, the Atlantic. For a few minutes the spectator witnesses a junction of distant worlds. The visible and the imagined landscape come together. Intimacy and strangeness, closeness and distance. The horizon calls for uprooting. It contains a fable, a mystery. Beyond this limit, this edge, the world continues?
